Enlightenment

What do you do when you have stark white walls and nothing to decorate them with?

Not many people would say 'paint the light switches'.

But that is what I did. These colourful pieces, done in a traditional Pakistani style of painting, pop out. The truck art that adorns the exterior of vehicles in Karachi now brings brightness into the house.

The smoothness of the surface made it somewhat challenging to paint upon it, and much patience was needed to allow the switches time to dry before applying a second coat.
Though, the end result makes the labouring completely worth it!

Foiled Again!

Sitting at home were three square canvases, bearing letters that read 'London', 'Paris', and 'New York'. All very typical, and not something I would want to adorn my bedroom with. So, I began experimenting.

On the first frame I stuck cardboard.

On the second, acorns.

And the third was the most experimental, with half an orange peel and egg cartons.

And then when I was done, I lay the foil on top and glued it in place. Next, I coloured the surface with a black marker and rubbed at it with my finger, siphoning away the colour on the surface, but the bit in the crevices remained.
